ABOUT ME

I am a multilingual communications and media professional with more than eighteen years of experience spanning journalism, humanitarian communication, strategic public positioning, crisis communication, and documentary filmmaking.

Throughout my career, I have worked on politically and emotionally sensitive subjects requiring careful editorial judgment, cultural sensitivity, and responsible public communication.

Having worked extensively in post-conflict environments, the humanitarian consequences of armed conflict and the protection of civilians have remained at the center of my work throughout my career.

As a former television journalist, spokesperson, and communications manager in the humanitarian sector, I have worked across media, public engagement, strategic communication, and long-form storytelling in complex international environments.

Today, my documentary work continues to explore the human impact of conflict and geopolitical crises, with a particular focus on how stories can foster understanding, public engagement, and meaningful dialogue.

The human cost of war and its consequences for civilians have always been at the heart of my work. My commitment to shedding light on forgotten conflicts and the human impact of geopolitical decisions continues to shape and inform my projects.

I am dedicated to amplifying the voices of people affected by conflict and humanitarian crises in order to foster empathy, awareness, and engagement.

My award-winning films have screened internationally at prestigious festivals:

“More Than Brothers” explores the human consequences of geopolitical decisions following the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan and the return of the Taliban to power. It portrays the personal sacrifices and political engagement of two US Special Forces members to save the Afghans who kept them safe during their deployments and gives a voice to their Afghan allies whose lives have been completely uprooted since the chaotic withdrawal.

Selected by 25+ prestigious film festivals such as DOC NYC, Big Sky and Hot Springs, the film has won several awards, amongst others Best Social Impact Short at the Lighthouse International Film Festival 2024.

Madame gstaad family picture of Emilie Steffen-von Siebenthal byAndrea von siebenthal author

AUTHOR

“Madame Gstaad” is a historic novel based on the remarkable true life story of my ancestor Emilie Steffen-von Siebenthal (1846–1922). Through Emilie’s eyes, readers experience the pivotal years of Gstaad’s development and immerse themselves in a time long past. Emilie’s life reflects the turning point that tourism brought to Gstaad, as well as the challenges a strong woman had to face in a small village community at the beginning of the 20th century. “Madame Gstaad” is a story of courage and despair, of love and death, and of poverty and a pioneering spirit. A story that captures the spirit of that era and brings it back to life.

The heart of the story has been turned into a short film by the Swiss national television SRF (link below).

The novel is available in German (original version) and English.
